Being the Chairman of Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturer's Association (PVMA), it is my Honor to represent 127 manufacturing units with a huge capacity in multi million tons of Vegetable Ghee and Cooking Oil. I would like to mention that the PVMA has always enjoyed a close relationship with the All Pakistan Solvent Extractors Association (APSEA). This business string plays a vital role in fetching over a million ton of soft oils purchased by PVMA members from APSEA. Further to this local procurement, the member units of PVMA import around 3 million tons of edible oil from the international market every year. With a hefty contribution to the national exchequer and performing a robust role in creating employment, and boosting business activities in local market, PVMA stands out as a forum which cannot be overlooked.
While being an important part of the national economy, PVMA members demonstrate a remarkable performance of their role as providers of safe and economical products to over 210 million people's population of Pakistan. They take all precautions and ensure implementation of safety measures in producing products having international food standards. Indeed their efforts are focused on providing healthy nutritious food with required fats & vitamins to their countrymen.
To conclude, I would once again like to extend a very warm welcome to all the delegates. I also wish that the foreign delegates as well as the worthy local guests will mutually benefit from PEOC's rewarding session based on experience, insights and analysis brought forth on this platform by the speakers. I foresee tremendous opportunities in our industry for a brighter and stronger future; for ourselves, our consumers and above all, our country.
